UK Staycations | The Best Family Getaway Locations

We know that picking the perfect family holiday spot is no easy task, especially when you may not share the same 'ideal' holiday opinions or wants! In this article, we have suggested some of the best staycation spots around the United Kingdom that offer a bit of everything for all members of the family!

Another of the leading holiday destinations within the United Kingdom, we recommend you go here, not just for the incredible food - but for the vast golden sandy beaches and the colourful sunsets, looking as though they’ve come straight out of an exotic getaway holiday advertisement. There are a variety of entertainment forms available within the county throughout the year, such as exciting water sports activities and events such as the popular Boardmasters festival, showcasing a combination of live music, surfing, skateboarding and more.

Cornwall has plenty to offer in terms of incredible sights to see, such as the Minack open-air theatre, carefully carved from the cliffside, located at Porthcurno, near Lands End. Minack puts on a range of classic theatre plays and musicals, perfect for the whole family, and if that doesn’t pique your interest, the Eden Project, a collection of giant biomes, housing a variety of exotic environments such as an incredible Rainforest biome, Mediterranean biome and a Western Australia biome. You can explore these areas freely once you’re in the facility, or receive a guided garden tour to learn more about the environments you are exploring. The Eden Project also has an on-site cafe and gift shop, so you can grab a quick bite to eat and a memento to remember your visit!

With scenic villages and unspoiled countryside, visiting Dorset is your chance to experience traditional, rural England at its best. With picturesque classic seaside resorts to explore, as well as fun-filled aquariums, national trust and English heritage sites and more - you won’t be stuck when it comes to finding fun things to do and exciting things to see that suit the whole family!

Visit the award-winning Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens known as the Botanical treasure cove on the Jurassic Coast. Expect to see the Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens flourishing with gorgeous rare and exotic plants from around the world.

If you are visiting Dorset, you mustn’t miss out on the incredible chance to experience the Jurassic coast itself. The fantastic rock formations are part of the United Kingdom’s only natural Unesco World Heritage site. Asides from the incredible views and beauty that the area offers, the Jurassic coast presents an opportunity for a fun day out for the whole family, as well as the chance to encourage your children to try their hand at fossil hunting!

There is a wealth of exciting things to do that will suit the whole family around Sussex. Being home to many seaside towns, you can expect to enjoy some gorgeous seaside views and fun places to visit, such as Brighton Pier and the local arcades! For a fun day out for the whole family - visit Drusillas Zoo and Wildlife Park in Alfriston to say hello to over 100 exotic animals! You can take a stroll through the walk-through exhibits at the park, as well enjoy the ‘zookeeper for a day’ experience, where you’ll get to see some of the behind-the-scenes fun at the zoo!

For another great day out in Sussex, visit Blackberry Farm just outside of Lewes. At this family-run farm, you can soak up 18 acres of gorgeous Sussex countryside, and say hello to the many animals that call the farm home! Make the most of your visit by booking in for a fun Pony ride around the paddock and exploring the farm to find all of your usual favourite farm animals. You can even go on a tractor ride, to experience what it would be like to be a farmer for a day. Overall, a great opportunity for children to interact with some of the animals and learn a bit more about agriculture.

Sussex is home to many more exciting sights to see and activities, including a variety of leisure centres, trampoline parks, nature parks and national trust grounds that are waiting to be experienced and explored.

Regardless of wherever you and your family choose to explore, may the memories made be unforgettable, with many laughs and smiles shared!
