Description of Beds: Remmy sleeps two adults comfortably, with a full sized double bed (190cm x 135cm) made up from the U shaped seating area (which feels more spacious with the slanted backrests). Alternatively, it can be kept in the seating formation to provide a twin option (190cm x 45cm). In addition to the main lighting, there are two cosy reading lights which can easily be switched on / off from bed.

Description of Seating: There are three belted seats (including driver), the middle of which folds down providing a convenient cup holder/ snack tray, and quick access to the living area. When in “social mode” in the back, you can comfortably host up to 5 adults around the U shaped benches.

Description of Electrical Setup: Remmy is kitted out to be off grid with 200w of solar input, keeping the 390Ah of batteries topped up. This means you can power the fridge, lights and USB charging without hook up, and switch on the inverter to plug in a standard 3 pin socket to power up laptops and camera chargers etc.

When you do need to hook up, the cable is easily accessible in the boot which plugs directly into the side of the van. To keep an eye on things, there is a clear power display showing battery levels and consumption so you’ll never be caught out!

About the area: Remmy’s home is central Milton Keynes, only a 5 minute taxi from the main station or a 10 minute drive from the M1. Being a central location, with quick train links out from London, Manchester, or Birmingham, within a 2hr drive you’ll be able to reach the Peak District, Cotswolds, Wales, Suffolk or the South Coast – it’s a great starting place for your Van Adventure!

Parking: There is plenty of parking nearby to leave your car. It’s a quiet village with little passing traffic and free public spaces. The train station is only a 5 minute drive away too.

Cooking Equipment: In addition to the three gas hobs, Remmy is kitted out with an oven and grill – perfect for those cosier nights in (roasts have been done before!). The kitchen in fully equipped with everything you’d need in a home away from home, including: 4 plates, 2 pasta bowls, 2 wine glasses, 2 tumblers, 4 mugs, full set of cutlery, cooking utensils, chopping board, knifes, small frying pan, large and small saucepan, and a whistling kettle. The tea and coffee jars are always fully stocked ahead of any adventure as true essentials, along with the corkscrew/ bottle opener! Bin bags, dust pan and brush and washing up equipment is also provided.

Water and Sanitation: Remmy is kitted out with a hot water heater, ready to go when you need to shower or wash up – even if you’re off grid! There is a full height shower with a simple curtain, which means no outdoor shower faff! A porta potti also fits in this space, providing a more discreet toilet location. Remmy has a 100L water tank which could keep you going comfortably for a long weekend before having to top up. But for when you do, the tank is located in the boot and easily accessible with a hose. There is also a filtered drinking tap – eliminating need for plastic bottles or concerns around how fresh the fresh water is!

All grey water is captured in an underslung tank which is easily emptied by a flick of the lever outside the van.

Audio Equipment: Remmy has a factory fitted radio with a CD player and bluetooth connectivity. Phones can be easily connected to play music and to make calls. There is also a built- in navigation system.

Type of Heating: To ensure the van is nice and cosy on those winter nights, there is a diesel heater installed which warms up the living space quickly and effectively. As Remmy is fully insulated, it just needs a short blast from the heater and it’ll stay warm for a long time.

Conversion Story: In his former life, Remmy was a Renault service van, before we fell in love and took him home to convert into our new home on wheels! The U shaped seating area was designed with socialising in mind – as we wanted to create both a space to host friends, and a comfortable area to relax after a day of adventuring! The colour theme and style was all inspired by the tiles! We found them at the start of the build and the rest evolved from there.
