The Iconic VW T2 Goes Electric
Vanessa (Corningstone - replacing our old van Ron Van Burgundy - due to his Blackberry paint and Mulberry interior) is our family Van. We use her for adventures near and far as both a family vehicle and campervan. We are ideally located for exploring Northumberland's Coast and Castle, or Hadrian's Wall, the Lake District, Edinburgh or even further afield. Just 15 minutes from Newcastle Airport, and 40 minutes from North Shields Ferry terminal for those coming from or going to Europe. Vanessa is a VW Kombi Van (SWB) that has had a few modifications to allow us to go on adventures. 3 Berth: She has a full width double in the rear, and you can use our child's bunk in the front, so is ideally suited for couples or small families. 5 berth+: If there are more of you then you can bring a tent, or hire one from us which will give you more bedroom space, as there is plenty of room for up to 5 to travel in the van. Vanessa's twin sliding doors make access in and out simple, no matter where you are parked.. There are two comfy 'captain's' chair up front, and the passenger seat swivels to face the rear seats when parked up, with a small table if needed. Vanessa has a portable 1000Ah battery that can run things off USB sockets and cigarette lighters, as well as low voltage items with 3 pins plugs. This battery can be charged from electric hook ups at campsites, the cigarette lighter when you are driving, or even our solar panels when in the wilds. For cooking there is a small portable gas burner for brews, and simple hot water dishes (pasta etc), and a gas BBQ too. In the rear are three seats, two of which have isofix. These seats fold flat to accomodate the double width bed in the rear. She has blackout curtains all round for a great nights sleep. Vanessa is automatic and couldn't be easier to drive, being Short Wheel Base (SWB) she fits in standard parking bays, and has a 150bhp diesel engine with cruise control, air con, Sat Nav and Bluetooth which all add to the driving experience.
