Why travelling as a family is an investment into your kid’s future…
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to travel full time, homeschool the kids and explore new landscapes everyday? Do you wonder how such as huge change would effect your lives and their learning? With so many Australian families packing up to travel with their kids, whether it be short term or long term, the benefits, in our opinion, far outweigh the negatives.
We have been on the road in our Jayco caravan for almost 2 years and the changes we have seen in our children is immense. We have 2 boys and when we first set of they were aged 3 and 6. Our eldest, Logan had just completed his first year of school and our youngest, Luke had done almost 2 years of daycare/preschool. January 2020, we enrolled Logan in distance education, packed our van and embarked on our adventure!
It was definitely an adjustment at first, finding a routine for lessons while also seeing all we wanted to see was a challenge, but we began to realise that there are so many other ways to learn when you’re out and about. The incidental learning that happens when you’re out everyday, seeing new places and experiencing new things is amazing. The boys concept of geography, time and even distances we traveled are things that can’t be taught in a classroom and they have been to so many museums filling their brains with a myriad of facts.
