Touring CaravansConventionalsYellowstone American Caravan4 berth
This is an extremely unique opportunity to buy a rare 1954 American Yellowstone caravan. Owned and loved for 11 years it's now in need of some TLC and would suit someone with a love of vintage caravans and Americana in particular.
The 1954 Yellowstone has its original aluminum exterior and wooden interior, original doors and windows, fold out table, sink and even the original American fridge door - with a small modern fridge replaced inside. When we bought the caravan we installed a new oven and hob and replaced the carpeted floor with new lino and a couple of chipped wood panels on the benches and cupboards.
The caravan is 5mtrs x 2.10 mtrs with a height of 2.60 mtrs. It is currently located near Bordeaux in France and will need to be transported on a flatbed truck to the buyer. Whilst designed as a touring vehicle in 1954 America, it's definitely better suited to being a static caravan in modern day Europe. And while it's sturdy we haven't driven with it since buying it and wouldn't trust it to be road worthy.
Having been exported from America 11 years ago and exposed to the elements in the fields of Bexhill in the UK and now Bordeaux it has suffered from some damp from a leak in the original chimney and moisture coming in through the windows which no longer all close properly and need to be repaired. There is also a hole in the floor under one of the seats and whilst the frame and undercarriage are solid there's definitely work to do that will require professionals or at least a very competent DIYer.
We have loved using the caravan for our family of four but now that our kids are 14 and 17 which just can't all comfortably sleep in it and so we think it's time to pass it on.
Please don't enquire unless you're a serious buyer. You can find cheaper caravans. But very few as rare and special as this one.
Featured in the Caravan Hall of Fame you can watch video tour of the same caravan in its original pristine condition here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsCZDhRVsrU
Documentation from our purchase attached. Please get in touch for photos of all areas of work that need doing (can only fit 8 pics here) and with any questions.
