BAILEY RANGER 510 4 REVIEW

“THIS NO-NONSENSE CARAVAN HAS ALL YOU NEED FOR AN ENJOYABLE TOURING HOLIDAY.”

The Basics of the Bailey Ranger 510
Since its launch nine years ago, the Bailey Ranger 510 4 caravan has proved to be a popular choice for first-time caravaners and it is easy to see why. The Bailey Ranger caravans offer a cleverly designed package that is well equipped and has been carefully thought out to provide the most efficient use of the space available. The result is a caravan of superb quality as well as being tremendous value for money.

The all-new Bailey Ranger 510 4 model we feature here is a four-berth, end-washroom caravan with the popular L-shaped seating arrangement in the front salon. The Bailey Ranger 510 4 has all the features one would expect from Bailey Ranger Caravans including Polyplastic double glazed windows throughout, Remis flyscreen and sun blinds on all principal windows, a Status TV aerial and booster as well as a new Truma 30mbr gas regulator.

The major visual change on the Bailey Ranger 510 4 model is that, like most other manufacturers, the Bailey Ranger caravans now sport a full height ABS front panel with a highline profile and integrated grab handles along with a full height rear panel featuring integral light clusters and grab handles. The new full-width panoramic front window also gives the Ranger series a youthful and modern appearance.

First Impressions of the Bailey Ranger 510

The ‘L’ shaped lounge area in the Bailey Ranger 510 4 creates a feeling of cosiness and somehow encourages the art of socialising. Maybe its because the regimented lines of the standard parallel configuration have been cleared away and replaced by a more friendly and informal arrangement that makes this Bailey Ranger caravan such a pleasure to relax in. The new large window allows the light to wash in and bathe the interior creating and extremely light and cheerful lounge. It’s easy to envisage that the 510/4L will become the party-animal’s caravan of choice.

Practicalities of the Bailey ranger 510 4

The Bailey Ranger 510 4 features an AL-KO galvanised steel chassis with Euro–Axle and a gas strut assisted hand brake. It also features a step-up A-frame fairing so useful when it comes time to get the wash bucket out. Bailey Ranger caravans have also totally re-engineered the gas bottle locker to improve both access and the storage capacity on this 2004 model.

Living Conditions in the Bailey Ranger

The Bailey Ranger’s living accommodation is enhanced by the wrap-around seating plan. This format provides for much more relaxed and informal eating arrangements, especially important when considering the needs of young families. The dining table can be erected easily and quickly affording space for up to four adults to eat in comfort. Contrasting plain curtains and attractive scatter cushions complements the family-friendly ‘Harmony’ soft furnishings. Drop in carpets complete the picture and give this Ranger a contemporary new look and appealing ambience.

Cooking, Sleeping and Washing

The kitchen area in the Bailey Ranger 510 4 is well appointed and includes a Spinflo recessed 4-burner hob unit incorporating a flush fitting glass-hinged lid. A Spinflo glass fronted oven also features along with a Dometic full-width fridge freezer. Storage is at a premium but if you are well organised it shouldn’t prove too much of a problem.

The Bailey Ranger 510 can sleep up to four in comfort. The lounge area can be converted into two single beds or a double, whilst the dinette can be transformed into a double bunk. The foam-filled upholstery in the 2004 model ensures that the bunk beds are more than comfortable when the dinette is in the sleeping configuration.

The rear of the Bailey Ranger 510 features a full-size washroom. The facilities consist of the usual amenities such as a swivel unit Thetford cassette toilet with integrated header tank, a fully enclosed shower with ceramic ball mixer tap, a washbasin, vanity unit and wall mirror. The clever design of the washroom also allows for a full-length wardrobe to be included.

Bailey’s 2004 Ranger 510/4L represents real value for money in a very competitive sector of the market. This no-nonsense caravan has all you need for an enjoyable touring holiday and it won’t break to the bank either. A sensible choice for the first time caravaner.
