Description

Please note Lit is NOT available for taking to festivals

About the area: Lit lives in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, and is parked on a quiet residential street. Hitchin is just a 25 minute train from central London which means Lit perfectly located to escape the city and explore beautiful surrounding areas such as the Surrey Hills, Chiltern Hills, South Downs and the Cotswolds, all within a 1-2 hour drive.

Description of Beds: Lit sleeps up to two people. The sofa area quickly transforms into a double bed which is 133cm wide and 172cm long.

Description of Seating: Lit can carry up to three passengers in the cab (including the driver). The living space in the back can fit up to four people.

Description of Electrical Setup: Lit can either run on or off-grid. When off-grid she is powered by a 115-ah leisure battery which runs off 12V and will power the lights, fridge, water pump and three 12V USB power outlets to charge devices. The battery is charged by solar panels on the roof and will charge up when the engine is running. The battery will last 1.5-2 days with no charging and sensible energy usage. There is a battery monitor to keep an eye on the battery level. When hooked up the mains, this will also charge the battery as well as supply power to three 240V power outlets. This will enable the use of high-energy devices such as a kettle, hair dryer, electric heater etc. There is a 240V hook-up cable supplied so when at a campsite it is encouraged to connect to the mains to save the worry of the battery running low.

Parking: If you drive to collect Lit, you are welcome to leave your car in its normal spot. The parking is on the street but there will be no charges. Lit is also located within walking distance of Hitchin Train station which is on The Thames Link line, only 25 mins from central London.

Cooking Equipment: Lit has a 2 burner gas hob located on a generous kitchen worktop. There is a hob kettle, as well as an electric kettle for use when connected to the mains. Lit has everything you could need to cook up a feast, including a small chopping board, a large frying pan, a medium saucepan, kitchen tongs, a spatula, sharp knives, a wooden spoon, a grater, metal bbq skewers and a corkscrew/ bottle opener. For tableware, Lit offers two of the following; dinner plates, small side plates, medium-sized bowls, cereal bowls, mugs, plastic tumblers, glass pint glasses, as well as knives, forks & spoons. For keeping Lit tidy and clean there is a dustpan & brush, sponges/ cloths, tea towels and a pop-out bucket (useful for carrying washing-up to the campsite facilities if needed).

Water and Sanitation: Lit has a simple water system located under the sink. There is a 36lt fresh tank that feeds the kitchen tap with drinking water and water to wash up dishes etc. There is no water heater but you can always boil the kettle for washing up or use campsite facilities. Lit has no toilet or shower... the proper camping experience.

Audio Equipment: Lit has an AUX lead in the cab to play music when on the move and there are USB charging points in the living space, perfect for powering your portable speakers.

Type of Heating: Lit has no build-in heating system. However, there is an electric heater that can be plugged in when hooked up to the mains, warming her up in minutes. If you are off-grid you can always turn the engine on and warm up the van using the heater blowers in the cab.

Extra Information: Lit is a medium wheel-based van, making it the perfect size for navigating small country roads and parking in an average-sized parking space (please bare in mind any height restrictions at car parks however!). Although Lit is a shorter van, the interior is spacious and the flexible design enables you to switch between a large living space during the day, to a cosy bedroom at night! You can find plenty of storage in Lit, with nine overhead cupboards, perfect for storing dry food and clothes. Above the cab, you'll find a generous storage space, perfect for storing larger items such as bags and coats. Lit also offers three storage cupboards at the rear of the van, but some of this space is occupied by van equipment such as the power cable and hose. One of Lit's coolest features is the roof deck which can be accessed by the rear door ladder, it is the perfect spot for soaking up the views on a sunny day.

Conversion Story: Lit started its life as a builder's van, needing some love and adventure! She was self-converted by her current owners from the summer of 2021- 2022. With one of the owners being a designer, the layout was carefully planned and thought through, to maximise all the useable space. The finish quality and attention to detail were top priorities with high-quality birch ply used throughout, solid kitchen worktops, and an inviting colour scheme.
